As Coronavirus reaches over one million cases worldwide, the town of Mount Pleasant has passed a stay at home order—preventing large gatherings and closing nonessential businesses for the next 14 days.
But residents of the Hamlin Plantation neighborhood in north Mount Pleasant found connection amid social distancing.
A plastic bin holding snacks sits on the porch of Sandra Klein’s house with a sign reading, “MUSC, Roper & Trident Snack Bin Drop Off.” Klein began collecting healthy snacks after finding inspiration through Facebook. The reach of Klein’s snack campaign had expanded to East Cooper Medical Center in Mount Pleasant by March 28. “I’m planning to just continue doing this now for a while and just kind of gauging where we are next week versus the next week,” Klein said.
