Week 18: Maggie Van Thullenar, Varsity Girls’ Soccer
April 25, 2019
How has soccer shaped your life?
¨It consumes my life basically. I go from school, to work, to soccer everyday, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. It definitely taught me discipline, teamwork, leadership, basic stuff. don’t know who I would be without it because it’s who I am: Maggie the soccer player¨.
Why do you play soccer?
¨It’s a stress reliever for me; it’s an outlet. It’s a place for me to just go out and play and not have to worry about anything else going on like school, homework, family stuff¨.
How is the season going so far?
¨We’re undefeated right now and I have sixty-two career shutouts, fifteen on the year; that’s games without any goals scored against Wando. We are working for a state championship right now and weŕe about to go to playoffs¨.
What’s your favorite memory regarding soccer?
¨In 2017, I actually scored in the state championship and it made ESPN top ten; it was number five and I scored from half-field, free kick¨.
