Rebekah Faith Appleton is making most people’s dreams a reality.
Rebekah Faith, a junior, has launched a career with local performances. From the recording booth, to Instagram, to a live audience, Faith is not just wishing on a star for a career.
She is determined to make it happen. It is almost as if Rebekah Faith was destined for her passion, since her life has always been filled with music. From her childhood, singing along to gospel songs at her church, to listening to country music on the radio in her home state of Tennessee, music has always been in her life.
“My whole family is listening to music all the time. So I feel like I was raised in music,” Faith said.
Her love of music is not new, and her mother has seen it from the beginning.
“[Rebekah] would come with me early on Sunday mornings and [sit down in the front row] watching me on stage with our church praise and worship team practicing before the services. I would see her singing along the words with us. Rebekah truly cares about music and touching others through her music,” Crystal Appleton said.
Rebekah Faith is not just a singer, she’s a performer. Rebekah Faith has been performing live in various places since she was ten years old, and she does not plan on stopping anytime soon.
“It’s so rewarding. The idea of children looking up to you. And a lot of times at gigs… kids come up to me and sit there and watch or they’ll start dancing to my music. And… that’s really cool. I love that,” Rebekah Faith said.
She has been able to perform at local restaurants such as Coastal Crust and Dog & Duck. More recently, Rebekah Faith has gotten the opportunity to perform at the Coastal Carolina fair and other music events that have taken her career to new heights. With the stadium-like seating available there, it has brought more eyes to her during her shows, putting the spotlight squarely on her.
Her performances are not limited to her in-person shows. This past summer, Rebekah Faith has been recording and posting herself singing every day in hopes of reaching 1,000 followers on her Instagram account. In this new age of the internet, one of the best ways to promote a talent is through social media, and she is taking full advantage of this avenue. Rebekah Faith is performing songs people do not hear every day, in an attempt to separate from the crowd and bring back classic songs to the mainstream.
“I took music lessons and… I posted a couple songs that my mom… would love me to sing.” Faith recalled. “And that’s when I… created a separate Instagram for my music. And ever since I’ve posted a couple times, I’ve tried to do like challenges and resume back in them… try to gain my following.”
So far, she has amassed over 500 followers on her music account, posting near-daily Instagram reels and information on upcoming shows as she closes in on her follower goal.
Her most recent endeavor has not come to fruition quite yet, but when it does, it should take her pursuit of her passion to a new
level. Rebekah Faith has begun writing and recording her own music, preparing to release it soon. This step can be where many break off from music. After all, writing two to three minutes of rhyming lyrics and a rhythm that matches those lyrics is a time-consuming and frustrating challenge many do not have the time or patience for, but Rebekah Faith is taking a slower approach to composing music.
“It got to where… random things would come to me. So I would write them down, emotions and I’m like, ‘Oh, I kind of like that,’” Rebekah Faith said.
Some people lose themselves in their big dreams and never end up fulfilling them. Rebekah is not one of those people, and she is taking on her big dreams now, instead of waiting.
“I believe that once you find something that you are truly passionate about, you should never let go of it, and keep chasing your dreams. Sometimes people find that spark at a young age, and sometimes it takes a lot of exploring, but whatever it is, never give up on it,” Rebekah Faith said.
