Fantasy Footall predictions – Week two

The Bengals could not have gotten off to a worse offensive start than they did in week one, racking up six punts and a measly 113 yards passing. This week has to be better for the team, facing one of the worst passing defenses from a year ago. Higgins averaged 17.7 points in games he started and finished last season, so look for that streak to pick back up this week.

The Chargers pulled off a big upset in a division clash with the superbowl runner ups in week one. A big factor in the game for Los Angeles’ offense was wideout Quentin Johnston as he totaled five receptions for 79 yards and two touchdowns. In week two, he faces a very spotty pass defense of the Las Vegas Raiders, so I believe starting him is beneficial.

Walker’s season started ominously last week with a quiet five points, while his backup, Zach Charbonet, took a large chunk of the red zone work in a loss to the 49ers. While that may be a sign of things to come for the veteran running back, this week should be good to him. His opponent this week, the Steelers, were atrocious last week against the run, and that shouldn’t change this week against Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak’s explosive run scheme.

Last week was a great week for Pittman, putting up 20 points in a phenomenal offensive performance from the Colts. There are several reasons to be skeptical of a follow up performance however. His performance last week would have been his second best showing all of last year, with number one being in a blowout loss. This week, he goes against the best secondary in the league, and not the dead looking Dolphins. Leave him on the bench for at least one more week.

This is less of a “must-bench” and more of a “be cautious”. Cook had a solid game last week, however 57% of his points came from a goal line touchdown and a 50 yard catch. While neither is impossible to replicate, Cook is one of the most reliable touchdown scorers the league has, I would not bet on both happening again. Combine that with the stout run defense he faces this week, and quarterback Josh Allen’s tendency to leach goal line work, it could be a bad week for Cook.

Tennessee saw a lot of promise from number one overall pick from Miami, Cam Ward, and I anticipate a lot of fans to back their quarterback in the Titans home opener Sunday. Ward is very skilled and I believe that, if he is able to work on connecting with his receivers, he should perform well against the Rams, who in my opinion looked very sloppy in week one. The Rams look one-dimensional on offense with only two players outside of quarterback Mattew Stafford standing out, those players being running back Kyren Williams and wide receiver Puka Nacua. I think the Titans’ pass defense looks very strong this year with an athletic secondary. Cornerback Roger McCreary and linebacker Femi Oladejo collected two interceptions against Denver. and I expect them to disrupt the passing game of the Rams. (Wes, 0-1)

Justin Herbert has been absolutely dominant against the Raiders of old, throwing 18 touchdowns over his nine games against the division foe. That was no different last year, beating Las Vegas by a combined 26 points over two games. That was the old Raiders, however. This new team, coached by hall of famer Pete Caroll, should be tired of being pushed around by their division rivals. Playing this game in Las Vegas, the Raiders can win this game, and they need it to prove they are legit. (Will, 0-1)

Looking at the matchups for week two in the NFL, nothing catches my attention more than the potential upset of the Washington Commanders over the Green Bay Packers. Although the Packers are 3.5 favorites over Washington, the Commanders have a legitimate chance to outperform the Packers if they utilize their offensive opportunities whenever they get them. Being the centerpiece for the Commanders’ offense, second-year starting quarterback Jayden Daniels has the decision-making ability to move the chains. Although his time in the pocket could potentially be more rushed with the strength of the Packers’ defensive line, as it happened to Lions starting quarterback Jared Goff, Jayden Daniels has the mobile ability to escape from those pass pressure moments, being more of a test for the Packers’ defense in week two. (Isaiah, 0-1)
