Our staff’s fantasy football starts, sits, and upset alerts for week 7

Start – Falcons Receiver Darnell Mooney

He is going up against a Seattle defense that gave up a perfect week to Jared Goff, and was diced up by Daniel Jones and Brock Purdy. This is a secondary that can be taken advantage of, and I think Mooney is just the guy to do it. While he’s been inconsistent in this Falcons offense, Kirk Cousins has looked for him often, so he has the targets. Plus, even with his bad weeks, he is still the 17th ranked wide receiver in fantasy football. With all that in mind, look for a big week for Mooney. -Will

Start – Patriots Receiver Demario Douglas

The reason I am starting DeMario Douglas is because of his volume in this New England offense. The offense is dormant, ranking towards the bottom of the league in passing offense. Douglas has been vital to the pass game for the Patriots no matter the QB. Whether Jacoby Brissett or Drake Maye, he has had the highest number of targets. In Drake Maye’s first career start, Douglas had nine targets, six receptions, 92 yards and a touchdown. Going across the pond to London should be no different for Douglas, as he faces a bottom five pass defense in Jacksonville – Wesley

Start – Packers QB Jordan Love

My reasoning for starting Jordan Love against the Texans is because he is coming off of his best accuracy game of the season against the Cardinals. He also had a 119.5 passing rating, which has been his best this season, normally averaging 80-90 range. He also has one of the best tight ends in the league in Tucker Kraft, who has the ability to get more after any reception. Not only that, but the Texans defense isn’t very talented, being ranked #17 in the league and averaging 22.8 points given up per game – Isaiah

Start – Jets Receiver Davante Adams

Adams is obviously a great receiver, but he has underperformed in fantasy through his tenure with the Las Vegas Raiders, primarily due to quarterback struggles. That issue has now been resolved as he has now been shipped off to the Jets with old, but experienced and talented Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, an old teammate of Adam’s in Green Bay. Expect high numbers this week, and for the rest of the season, as a result of his reconnection to his old QB and a better offensive line – Noah

Sit – Cardinals Running Back James Connor

After a decent start to the season, Conner’s production has taken a dip. His production on the ground depends on two things, how successful he is early in the game and the quality of the defense he’s going against. These two things will be hard to create against a great Chargers run defense. When he’s not running, look for him to catch a lot of dump off passes which can look good except he doesn’t do much with them. The biggest factor in sitting him, however, isn’t even his fault, it is’s his backups. Emari Demercado and Trey Benson both play his position and have been outperforming him in this offense. Unless Conner gets a touchdown, don’t expect big production from him – Will

Sit – Steelers Tight End Pat Friermeuth

The reason I am sitting Pat Freiermuth is because of his lack of production. Outside of two touchdown catches against Indianapolis and Dallas, he has been silent in an Arthur Smith run offense. He is the team’s second leading receiver at tight end but the offense has been inconsistent through 6 weeks. The offense has produced against very disoriented defenses in Indianapolis and Dallas. Other than those games, they have struggled on offense, especially passing. Pittsburgh loves to be balanced in both the run and pass game, so facing a Jets defense with a great pass defense but a weak run defense, therefore I expect a lot on the ground versus the Jets on Sunday night – Wesley

Sit – Bills Receiver Keon Coleman

Coleman hasn’t produced as much as spectators expected him to. Coming out of college, he was seen as one of the most athletic players in the most recent draft class. With an elite level quarterback like Josh Allen, he hasn’t been able to adjust to the playstyle of the NFL. There is still time left in the regular season, so he still has the ability to make adjustments – Isaiah

Sit – 49rs Receiver Deebo Samuel

Samuel has had an outstanding season so far, averaging around 14 ppg in PPR leagues, however, the overwhelming competition on San Francisco’s offense is bound to catch up with his fantasy performance. The 9er’s are facing the Chiefs’ top tier defense this week, including Trent McDuffie himself, as a result I see Deebo reaching a maximum of 10 pts this week, with Kittle, Ayiuk, and Jennings taking many of the targets – Noah

Fair Use - New York Giants
Upset Alert: Giants over Eagles

This one’s pretty simple, I’m selling the Eagles hard going forward for a variety of reasons. They’ve been one of the worst teams in football since their overtime win over the Bills all the way back in week 12 last year. Since then they have a record of 4-8, with their only impressive victory coming against the Packers in a weird game in Brazil. Other than that, nothing has looked easy in Philly. Their offense has looked stale and lifeless with their only spark coming from the occasional big play from one of their many talented offensive skill guys, and the defense has put out uninspired efforts week after week. This cacophony of bad football came to a head last Sunday, when their coach went into the stands to yell at fans, in their own stadium. This is a disaster waiting to happen, and a disaster the desperate Giants can take advantage of. Coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Bengals in which their defense dominated Joe Burrow, look for the Giants to get back in the win column with their stellar rookie Malik Nabers back in the fold. Plus, they have an old friend in Saquon Barkley coming to town, and New York will look to say he picked the wrong side of this rivalry, whether that’s true or not – Will

Fair Use - Green Bay Packers
Upset Alert: Packers over Texans

For this upcoming week of professional football, the 5-1 Texans are facing the 4-2 Packers on Sunday, at one PM eastern time. For this game, I’m calling for an upset, with the Packers defeating the Texans. So far this season, Packers starting quarterback, Jordan Love, has been arguably one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the league. Coming off of a solid game versus the Cardinals, Love threw for his highest passer rating of the season, with a rating of 119.5. He also threw for four touchdowns and only one interception, on 258 yards. Not only that, but looking at Houston’s side, the Texans haven’t had a consistent pass defense, and going against a quarterback who likes to move the chains through the air, they might be in trouble. – Isaiah

Fair Use – Green Bay Packers
Fair Use - LA Rams
Upset Alert: Rams over Raiders

The LA Rams are a 4-2 team going 1-5, even with the numerous injuries, most importantly star receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp, the Rams have a solid offense with Karen Williams and Matt Safford at the helm, pair that strong running back core with a terrible Vegas run defense and I see the Rams earning their second win this week. In addition, the Raiders are set to be the worst team in the league after losing star receiver Davante Adams, alongside their league-all-pro defensive End Maxx Crosby battling a high ankle sprain, leaving them dead in the water in terms of talent. – Noah
