If people have Breece Hall they’re likely already starting him. However, he is one of the most frustratingly inconsistent players in all of football. Like his entire team, he has been a big disappointment as a top-three pick in most fantasy drafts back in August. There are reasons for his lack of production though. The Jets have been ceaselessly attempting to get rookie back Braelon Allen carries to no success. Hall outperforms him in every stat, still the Jets insist on giving Allen carries that halt any offensive momentum they had. Against the Dolphins this week, New York will hopefully try to take the pressure off of newly 41 year old Aaron Rodgers and establish the run against a mid Miami defense.
Titans’ Will Levis is a great start this week as he goes into Jacksonville which has the worst-ranked defense against the pass. They have given up an average of 273 passing yards a game and over 300 yards passing in the last three games. I expect, with such a bad secondary and the loss of quarterback Trevor Lawrence this week, Jacksonville will be on defense a lot this week.
Ever since being released from the Denver Broncos and then picked up by the Pittsburgh Steelers, 13-year veteran quarterback, Russell Wilson, has been proving to NFL GMs why they shouldn’t count him out just yet. In an intense game against the Bengals on December 1st, Wilson proved why he’s starting over Justin Fields. In the win, Wilson passed for 414 yards with 3 touchdowns. Not only that, Wilson had a passer rating of 126.4. There’s honestly nothing that Wilson can specifically “improve” on this season, so the most that could be said about this upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns is to continue to make good offensive reads and make safer options with the time that he has in the pocket.
Since his extraordinary 2021 season, Kupp has been nothing more than a reliable yet injury-prone flex option. He’s become a reception merchant, getting points for his receptions and not for yards after them. However, other Rams have recently begun to take much of Kupp’s production. From star receiver Puka Nacua getting more and more looks, to the surprising breakout of veteran Demarcus Robinson who already has a career-high 7 touchdowns. Even the backfield has gotten more play lately, with Kyren Williams and rookie Blake Corum receiving more volume in the run game. This is a crowded Rams offense, and seeing as Kupp needs at least 10 targets to be effective fantasy-wise, it could be hard for him production-wise going forward.
I think the Panthers are trending more in the direction of giving more production to running back Jonathan Brooks. A lot of the offense for Carolina started the year heavy on the ground but now quarterback Bryce Young has found his footing in the passing game. I also see more mix of run and pass from head coach and offensive play caller Dave Canales. I think he will still provide a boost in the red zone but a touchdown doesn’t give much to a fantasy team realistically.
When the Bills picked up receiver Amari Cooper, there were high hopes for a veteran who can not only come in and play his role for offensive success but also become a mentor for rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman. Unfortunately for Buffalo, it’s been clear that this move hasn’t been in their favor. Going into the 14th week of the NFL, Cooper has under 300 receiving yards, with only 24 receptions, and 3 touchdowns. On the mentor side of things, in the same way that Cooper dealt with injuries, Keon Coleman has been going back and forth with many different injuries in his early NFL career. It’s safe to say that regardless of their success, the Bills have some consideration to do for the future of these highly scouted names in their wide receiver room.
The 49ers’ season has fallen apart quickly. With injuries to their most important players piling up after every game they play. Eventually, there’s a breaking point to the amount of players a team can lose before it crumbles and I think the 9ers have found it. The Bears are coming off a late-game disaster against the dominant Detroit team that got their head coach fired. With a seemingly toxic coach taken out of the locker room, the Bears should come into this game inspired and ready to play. The same can’t be said for certain of this 49ers team at this point. – Will, (3-2)
I have the Chargers beating the Chiefs because of Harbaugh and his defense. The Chargers are first in points allowed this season at 15.9 and forced 4 interceptions last week versus the Falcons. I like this matchup of the secondary vs Kansas City and their passing attack. I believe that Kansas City is going to have to be perfect to keep getting by in close games which they have been. I think Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes will have a great duel once again but in the big moments, the Chargers will step up on defense and make the play, especially with the ability to force turnovers in the red zone. – Wesley, (4-1)
