Capturing a Glimpse: “If we don’t step up, who will”

Crowds from around the Charleston area gathered in downtown Charleston to support the protection against climate change.

Student, Nora Fitzgerald, draws another poster with the words, "I'm with her" next to the sketch of a globe. She explains that she is protesting because "There just isn't enough attention. The government claims to be helping and supporting but nothing is hanging. Things are only getting worse for the environment and if we don't step up, who will?"...

As the rally comes to an end, Mayor John Tecklenburg walks over to the crowd of teens to say, "Ya'll are right. There is problem and it is a huge one. When I'm long gone, this generation will be left to fix this mess we have created. It makes me proud to see young people stand up for our earth and I just want to thank each and everyone of you for coming out here today."...

The couple looks across the street to see the dozens of teenage protestors and they immediately pull out their phones to video. They claimed, "You see this kind of stuff on the news all the time but we have never seen anything like this in person, it's incredible; so encouraging"....

Seven year old, Caleb, protests with his mother and older sister by his side with a smile on his face while he bashfully shields the camera with the poster he made himself. When asked why he is here, he says, "I want the government to protect all the climate and my future"....
