That’s Debatable: Cybertrucks

That's Debatable: Cybertrucks

Marissa’s take:

Cybertrucks. Elon Musk has nearly 300 billion dollars and this is what he decides to spend it on. Instead of ending world hunger or helping the homeless, he decides to make Cybertrucks.

He even made Cybertruck merch. You read that right, he made clothes based on a car. The merch includes sweatshirts and shirts that have the Tesla logo on them, amongst other things. The logo is so small that you can barely see it. I cannot even comprehend the hype around this sorry excuse for a truck. You would never see me in anything remotely similar to this monstrosity.

Cybertrucks look like cardboard that has been spray-painted and stuck together with Elmer’s Glue. It hurts my eyes just looking at them. They quite literally look like something that kids could build on Roblox. Whenever I see them driving, I physically cringe. If my dad drove up in that, I would act like I do not know him. I would actually emancipate myself if one of my parents got a cybertruck.

If you search up “Cybertruck” on Google, it comes up as a “Pickup Truck” and I know that is not true. Pickup trucks have a ginormous trunk bed in the back of the car, while Cybertrucks do not. Do not even try to convince me that they do. The tow hitch has broken numerous times. Just search for “Cybertruck Tow Hitch Breaks,” and I guarantee you that you will find a video proving this.

In Cybertrucks, the dashboard has a colossal-sized screen. It is like a mini television installed in the car. I do not know how people can concentrate on driving when there is a screen invading their line of vision. It is a car wreck waiting to happen, and I will not be there to see it.

Will’s Take:

The Cybertruck is a marvel of engineering, with historic features never seen or done on this level before.

The reason why people spend upwards of 100 grand on this powerhouse of a truck is not the insane features that accompany it. People pay that insane amount for the status that comes with purchasing it. When you own a Cybertruck, people have no choice but to pay attention to you, whether they love or hate it. The scene of it in a driveway inspires attention like no other truck on the market.

It is not just a status symbol however, it also possesses practical features that are unique to it. The feature most advertised is its stainless steel bulletproof exterior, which makes it nearly indestructible. This feature is also very aesthetically pleasing. The truck is electric, so the positives for the environment in the long term are numerous. Also, it being electric allows it to be a power generator for a home for up to three days, which can be massively helpful in power outages.

Another advertised feature of the truck is its ability to self-drive in the future. And, while this feature does not work at this point, everyone who owns a foundation series Cybertruck has already paid for this feature, so it must be coming soon. If this feature comes anytime soon it may be a game changer in the industry.

The Cybertruck, in its finished form, should be the future of trucks as we know them to be.
