Over the past few weeks, the National Honor Society has been on a mission to spread holiday cheer. NHS members lined up at Somerby retirement home, located in Mount Pleasant, eager to spread the holiday spirit.
Every year throughout the days leading up to Christmas break, Wando’s NHS finds many ways to give back to their community, the most cherished one being the tradition that takes place at Somerby Retirement Home.
Members of NHS have the opportunity to go caroling, dress up in festive gear, and spread holiday cheer.
First-year member and junior Audrina Cruz found joy in the traditional activity.
“I just love giving back to my community, and helping people feel better,” Cruz said.
This chapter project gave her an opportunity to give back, as she enjoyed being able to brighten the elderly people’s day through caroling.
“It felt good because they were happy, and singing put me in the holiday spirit,” Cruz said.
