Chorus’ first concert was a unique perfermance

Chorus held a unique first concert of the year on Oct. 2, exploring songs and themes that the program does not usually use during their first concert of the year.

“Usually our theme for the first concert is peace, but because we are going to Hawaii this year, most of the songs that we sang we did a Hawaiian song. We did “Over the Rainbow,” we did a Polynesian song. So it was kind of a way to showcase what we will be bringing to our Hawaii trip,” junior Gillian Richard said. “Other than that, all the choirs performed a different piece that they’ve been working on, so there wasn’t really an overarching theme, but the group songs were definitely Hawaiian.”

All of the choruses performed in the concert that they had been preparing for the past several weeks. Hurricane Florence did set the groups back a week.

“[The hurricane] was definitely hard to deal with, but we still were super focused last night,” Richard said. “I think it helped to push us to be more productive in rehearsal to get to be concert-ready, and I thought it went really well.”
