Sophomore Lauren Funkhouser wowed the crowd at the annual Talent Show on Nov. 8, taking the first place award.
Funkhouser sang “Think of Me” from The Phantom of the Opera.
Freshman Noa Doucette came second place as well as leaving the audience slightly emotional after playing violin to a clip of Pixar’s Up.
There was a tie for third with the Step Team and junior McKenzie Sandifer sharing this title. Sandifer sang “Stay” by Sugarland while the Step team performed a choreographed routine.
The winners were astonishing, but the other contestants also showed superior talent. The night began with Madison Frank playing ukulele and singing her own rendition of “Ex’s and Oh’s” by Elle King. Morgan Miller silenced the entire audience with her cover of “Under the Table” by Banks.
There was a drone performance by Antonio Ribeiro, where he flew the machine over the heads of the audience. Bailey Cox danced beautifully across the stage and gave the audience members a captivating show. There was a gospel performance by Haven Manigault where he sang “Wake up Everybody” by Teddy Pendergrass.
There were shoutouts during the brief breaks where family and friends could write messages to the performers and there was plenty of food to buy, ranging from popcorn to mac n’ cheese to banana pudding.
The event was a success, with great food, a great atmosphere and great talent.
