Members of the Wando band wore royal blue, the color of Castle High School on Thursday to show support for the Castle High School marching band who lost vocalist Sophie Rinehart to a car accident early Saturday morning.

Rinehart had performed a vocal solo for Castle high school at the Bands Of America Grand Nationals competition at Lucas Oil Stadium. Traveling home with her family late Saturday night when their Honda Civic struck a deer. The driver Sophie’s father David pulled off to the side of the road and stopped. After the car stopped a driver of a pickup truck left the southbound lane for unknown reasons and veered onto the shoulder of the opposing lane and struck Rinehart’s car killing Sophie, her father David and her grandmother Ruth. Josie Rinehart who was also in the vehicle Survived and was taken to the hospital.

Wando band members gathered to take a group picture Thursday morning, dressed in royal blue with a sign that had been signed by every member of the Wando band with the hashtag #singforsophie on it. The band sent the picture to the Castle high school band director.
