Coop’s winners and losers- Week 7

Winner- LSU: The Tigers had their backs against the wall after losing to Florida in week six. After such a tough defeat, the last thing any team wants is a date with the number two team in the country the following week, but that’s exactly what LSU had to deal with on Saturday. They played with a chip on their shoulder and rose up to the challenge, blowing the doors off the Dawgs by a score of 36-16. Joe Burrow played well, completing 50% of his passes and rushing for two touchdowns. LSU’s defense was did a good job of shutting down Jake Fromm and forcing turnovers. LSU is right back in the thick of things, making their rapidly approaching dance with Alabama all the more tantalizing.

Winner- Michigan: As much as I hate to do it, I’m going to give khaki pants Harbaugh, Shea Patterson and the second most toxic fan base in college football some credit. Michigan played excellent on Saturday night, their defense kept Alex Hornibrook on edge all night, returning one of his two interceptions for a touchdown and Shea Patterson played a clean game, throwing for 124 yards and rushing for a touchdown. It was a big win in the Big House for the Wolverines, they will have to keep up their form because they still have Michigan state, Penn state and Ohio State standing in their way of a BIG 10 title appearance.

Loser- Georgia: Georgia was exposed against LSU. D’andre Swift was held to only 72 yards rushing, their defense was a mess and Jake Fromm was missing in action. It’s gut check time for Georgia and decisions are going to have to be made. Justin Fields?

Loser- Penn State: After losing to Michigan State on Saturday, Penn State’s season is hanging in the balance. After blowing the Ohio State game and with Michigan rapidly approaching Penn State will either rebound or totally collapse and nothing in between

Loser- Auburn: After getting embarrassed by Mississippi State in week six, Auburn had their backs against the wall in week seven. They promptly fell apart at home against Tennessee in an ugly loss. It was Tennessee’s first SEC win in their last 11 conference games, a huge win for them. But Auburn is falling to pieces and is now looking like just another appetizer for Nick Saban’s Alabama winning machine.

Loser- West Virginia: Are we sure Will Grier is the best quarterback in the country? He could only manage 100 passing yards one touchdown and one interception on Saturday. West Virginia stayed off the country roads and took the interstate home after getting blown off the field 30-14 by Iowa state. Perhaps the craziest thing about this loss is that it means Texas might legitimately be the best team in the BIG 12.

Loser- Miami: Seriously, don’t lose to Virginia, there’s no excuse for that.
