Coop’s winners and losers- Week 8

Cooper Lockett, Co-Editor in Chief

Winner- Kentucky: The wildcats set themselves up for a winner-take all showdown against Georgia next week. This game will decide the SEC east. Kentucky scored a walk off touchdown on an untimed down to beat Missouri on Saturday. Star running back, Benny Snell, passed Moe Williams for second on UK’s all time rushing list during the game. It was a big win against a tough opponent on the road for Kentucky. Now they travel to Athens with a chance to pull of a huge upset, and claim the SEC east.

Winner- Georgia: Georgia dominated ninth ranked Florida in Jacksonville for a 36-17 win. Jake Fromm played a good game throwing for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns. Georgia’s running backs D’andre Swift and Elijah Holyfield lead the way on the ground, combining for 175 yards and a touchdown. Georgia is back on track, and has a chance to clinch the SEC East division against Kentucky next Saturday

Loser- Florida state: Florida state got rocked by Clemson on Saturday. Their 59-10 loss was tied for their worst loss by points margin in the history of their program. FSU’s defense held the score to 0-0 at the end of the first quarter, but then gave up 28 points in the second quarter and the rest is history. It was an embarrassing performance that left Doak Campbell stadium next to empty in the second half, save a few Clemson fans and a shirtless FSU fan reading a book appropriately titled Dark Places. It may be Willie Taggart’s first year, but the FSU fanbase won’t tolerate performances like this for long.

Loser- N.C State: After getting blasted by Clemson last week, N.C state couldn’t bounce back against Syracuse. They stuck around in the game, but couldn’t mount a comeback losing 51-41. A season that started out filled with optimism for N.C state is quickly collapsing.
