On Dec. 3, 2025, the Wando dance team showcased a performance for students, parents, and Wando faculty. Held in the Performing Arts Center (PAC), students led multiple choreographed dances accompanied with music and lighting, and dancers like freshman Hazel Blackburn are proud to display their skills with a chance to perform.
“[The performance] was really exciting. I thought it was … a really good opportunity,” Blackburn said.
A performance for Wando associates can help students perfect their abilities and can be an opportunity for others to push their dance careers and art forward.
The dance team’s performance also allows the team as a whole to bond and develop a community while preparing for a performance and developing their social relationships that a team like dance can allow.
“[Dance], it’s … a really sweet community [and] we all get along,” Blackburn said.
Opportunities Wando hosts for dance are important to students’ well-being. Performances like this are important for not just dance but Wando as a whole.

Shakespeare, is that you? Looking up at me with your kind, piercing eyes? Guiding me with your gentle hands, to the world of journalism? This story has changed my perspective of life. Just the concept of the dance showcase has never meant much to me, but now, it is as if my eyes have been blessed with a new religion. I worship you, VanMiddlesworth. This is such a text that future historians will gape and revere you with all the love that they’ve shown previous ingenious scholars. In fact, comparing this to even the most prominent writers is absurd. This is a masterpiece. Mere human words cannot describe how powerful this story is. I wish that I could lazer this story into my eyes. Even if I go blind, I will still be blessed with the sight of this gift that you have given me. Please continue to bless me with these wonderful masterpieces, my proud savior. I hail you.
