Epstein back in the spotlight with list

Most, if not all, should know who Jeffery Epstein is and the reasons why his name is still being spread around after his suicide back in August 2019. He was notoriously known by almost every celebrity including people such as former presidents and even members of the royal family.

For someone who owned private islands and jets, nobody was ever sure how he knew the celebrities that visited the islands and where his money came from. Not until his crimes were revealed causing Epstein togo to prison for being convicted of federal sex trafficking crimes and conspiracy.

Many of the women who were apart of the violent sexual abuse have spoken out against Epstein. The women speaking out did choose to remain anonymous under the name Jane Doe when making their statements; one stating that “Jeffrey Epstein stole my innocence. He gave me a life sentence of guilt and shame. I do not consider myself a victim. I see myself a survivor.”

The celebrities involved are still in efforts to get their names redacted from the documents released by the courts. According to the documents, victims were afraid to reach out to the Palm Beach Police, where Epstein’s crimes began, because of the things Epstein would say to other victims. Threatening to kill them and saying “you’re going to break your legs.” sending petty verbal threats straight to the girls. Some of the women who came forward have since gone silent out of fear of retaliation against them and their families.

Within the documents, women who have chosen to stay as Jane Doe, goes in number of just how many of them are there. Doe 107 is fighting to keep her name sealed in the documents. She says that she, “faces a risk of physical harm in her country of residence.”

I believe that the issues with Epstein and the people involved are because of the lack of media coverage. It’s not just the fact he was a very disgusting and sick man. It’s the fact that news reporters and big influential figures have known about these crimes since the early 2000s but haven’t chosen to do anything about it.

Reporters shouldn’t be too afraid to push past their boss or a bigger figure to cover what the public needs to know. Is it because of threats made by the accused or are they just another small part of the problem of protecting the pedophiles?

As a journalist, I feel as if you should push to get these stories out and tell the people who rely on you to know what is going on around you.

I don’t think you should be scared to take the risks just because of somebody with connections.

Still, It is truly disgusting how big celebrities just get to pay off their debts to get their names off of some list. Celebrities need to be able to own up to the things they say, do, and put out for the public to see. They should be able to just be adults. Do adult things and not act childish when things go wrong.
