Wando’s theater program completed a dominant showing at the Palmetto Dramatics Association (PDA) convention, a yearly state competition which took place over the weekend of Feb. 28, 2026.
At the PDA meeting, the theater program performed the play “Day Six” by Ed Monk, and was awarded a Superior rating for their group production.
Wando Theatre’s group performance competed with other plays from 13 other schools, including regional heavyweight, the School of the Arts. Surpassing all other competition, Wando’s theater group earned Chapter Select: both an award and invitation.
Chapter Select is a part of a nationwide system of theater competition, in which one production from every state is selected to represent their state at a national competition, the International Thespian Society’s International Thespian Festival (ITF).
Further, Wando Theatre was able to win multiple PDA awards, including Outstanding Production Design, an Excellent Acting Award presented to Gianna Tringali and a Superior Acting Award presented to Dominic Weiss.
At the individual competition level, 28 students from Wando Theatrewon Superior Thesby ratings on their individual performances, the best possible rating students can earn. These ratings also permit them to perform that work in competitions at the ITF.
